Itinerary

Our staff will greet you at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport and bring you to your hotel, where our guide will brief you on the hotel, Kathmandu, trekking programs, do's and don'ts, and other pertinent information.

Transfer to the domestic airport in Kathmandu early in the morning, then board a smaller aircraft (twin otter or Dornier) for a picturesque trip to Lukla. Our first day hike begins with a gradual drop and then a few ups with views of Kusum-Kangru 6,369m. We are met by our trekking guides with porters to carry your larger baggage and opportunity to explore the area.

As the hike continues, a brief suspension bridge and a short ascent will lead you to Phakding hamlet, where you will spend the night near the Dudh-Kosi River.

Morning walk with a short uphill and downhill and re-crossing the same river with a magnificent view of Thamserku 6,608m. After a few hours of walking, you will arrive at Monjo village and then trek to the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park (Sagarmatha is Nepali name for Everest, whereas Chomolungma is Tibetan for Great-Mother).

From the Park gate, a short descend leads to Jorsalle hamlet, the last village before Namche Bazaar. The walk follows the riverbank through green forested sections with pines, oaks, and rhododendron trees.

After crossing the last high bridge, the hike continues north on a wide winding uphill trail to Namche Bazaar, with spectacular views of Kwangde, Kusum Kanguru, and Mt. Everest-Nuptse.On a hike uphill, Lhotse peaks.

Namche Bazaar, a significant village/town in the Khumbu region with good hotels and lodges, is located in a U-shaped bowl and hosts a colorful and lively Saturday Market every week.

Namche is an ideal place for acclimatization and a short hike; suggested activities include a walk to Sagarmatha National Park Headquarters, a magnificent spot perched on top of Namche Bazaar with a breathtaking view of surrounding high peaks including Mt. Everest and Ama-Dablam, and a visit to its interesting museum for a wealth of information on the Himalayas' history, geography, culture, mountaineering, as well as information on the region's flora and fauna.

Morning hikes on a rather easy track for the first half of the hike, with a few small ups and downs overlooking Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Kwangde-Ri peaks takes to Phungitenga 3,250m, a small town with a couple of teahouses in the midst of an alpine forest with silver fir, blue pines, rhododendron, and a few magnolias and birch trees.

Afternoon hike leads to a roughly two-hour ascent through the shade of large trees to Thyangboche Monastery (Gompa), where you will spend the night. Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, and Lhotse Shar can all be seen from here, as well as Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, and Lhotse Shar to the northeast.

After a fantastic time at Thyangboche, our journey descends through a forest of birch, fir, juniper, and rhododendron, arriving at Deoboche 3,650 m, a gorgeous site with a spectacular view of Mt Ama Dablam, Mt. Everest, Nuptse, and Lhotse. From Deoboche, proceed beyond the prayer mani wall to a metal bridge that spans the Imja-small Tse River's canyon. From the bridge, walk uphill for the majority of the trip to Pangboche hamlet, which is at 3,900 meters (the last permanent village on route base camp).

After Pangboche, a short ascent leads to Shomare, a little village with a great view of Ama-Dablam, for lunch. After a delightful stop, continue east, passing a small wooden bridge after an hour's walk, and then proceeding to the picturesque Imjatse valley for an overnight halt at Dingboche village.

Dingboche is situated in the magnificent Imja-Tse valley under Ama Dablam, Nuptse, and Lhotse, with views of the Island Peak or ImjaTse Himal, which stands at 6,189 meters and is one of Nepal's most famous trekking peaks. Dingboche has a nice field surrounded by stone walls that protect barley, buckwheat, and potato crops from the cold wind and grazing animals, as well as a number of good lodges to stay in.

Another rest day at Dingboche, with a few great locations for short climbs up the hill for the best glamorous views of the valley and mountains, including Mt. Makalu to the east.

Our itinerary departs from Dingboche and heads north, stopping first at Buddhist monuments known as mani-prayer Stupas. From here, travel down a moderate slope into Pheriche valley and the settlement, with views of Mt. Tawache, Ama Dablam, and Pokalde peak.

After a few hours of enjoyable walking, arrive at Thugla, where the Pheriche and Dingboche routes meet, and then cross a little wooden bridge over a furious river fed by the Khumbu glacier.

Many memorials of tragic climbers who perished in expeditions surrounding Everest and other summits in the region may be found at Thugla, which is an hour steep to the top with views of Mt. Pumori and other peaks west of Everest.

After a short break, continue walking for an hour with a moderate ascent to Lobuche, where you will spend the night. Lobuche cottages and lodge are nestled in a corner, well hidden and protected from the bitter weather.

Today's trip takes us to the very foot of Mt. Everest, with a one-hour trek on a moderate trail with a slow ascent followed by a brief 20-minute climb to a moraine above the Khumbu glacier. A rocky moraine route leads from here to Gorakshep, which is situated on a level sandy meadow below Kala Patthar 5,545m and Mt. Pumori 7,145m.

Gorakshep, with a few lodges and teahouses, was an early Everest base camp until the late 1980s. Continue trekking to Everest Base Camp after a break here; the walk is tough due to the high altitude and thin air, and the trail leads through stony dunes, moraine, and streams until Everest Base Camp is reached after 3 hours of walking from Gorakshep.

During peak expedition season, Everest Base Camp is bustling with visitors who come to see the gigantic Khumbu icefalls and glaciers, as well as the Nuptse-Lola peaks.

After a fantastic afternoon at base camp, return to Gorakshep for an overnight stay before continuing on to Lukla.

Early in the morning, a difficult hike leads you to Kalapatthar, a little rocky summit on Mt. Pumori's southwest ridge; the view from here is incredible, with Everest just a stone's throw away; after a lovely time, return to Gorakshep and continue walking to Pheriche and beyond to Pangboche.

After an hour of fine walking, reach Thugla, where the Dingboche route branches off, and descend further to reach a level region of Pheriche Valley. After an hour of good walking, reach Pheriche for a possible lunch stop. A short walk from Pheriche leads to a bridge; after crossing the bridge, descend to Pangboche for the night.

From Pangboche, take a peaceful walk to Phortse Tenga, a small settlement, and then uphill to Mong Hilltop, where a few lodges give a great view of the Himalayas.

After a climb, descend to Sanasa village and then climb a short distance to Khumjung village, which is located on a glacial valley below the holy peak of Khumbi-la, for an overnight halt.

With time to spare, visit one of Khumbu's oldest monasteries, the only place where a Yeti Scalp is housed in a protected glass box.

Morning views of snow-capped peaks await us as we continue our trek. We can either go straight to Namche Bazaar or take a longer path to Khunde and its hospital, which was created by the Edmund Hillary Trust and Foundation.

Regardless of route, the hike begins at Syangboche's ancient little airfield and descends steeply to Namche Bazaar, stopping in Namche for lunch before continuing downhill to Monjo for an overnight stop before Lukla.

Enjoy the beautiful greenery landscapes around you on the final day of this incredible adventure, have a leisurely walk with a small ascent before Lukla, and then end the day in the afternoon in Lukla with time to explore the town before dinner in the Everest and Khumbu districts.

The flight to Kathmandu is generally scheduled in the morning, but it may be delayed owing to severe weather or other factors. Depending on the flight time, board a small aircraft for a super flight back to Kathmandu and then transfer back to your hotel.

A free day in Kathmandu, saved in case of a flight delay at Lukla, to enjoy quick sightseeing tour and your own activities and shopping. After breakfast, start your day with a half-day guided sightseeing tour of places of interest in and around Kathmandu, including the Kathmandu valley and the city, which are steeped in historical monuments listed as World Heritage Sites, and spend the afternoon for souvenir shopping and other independent activities.
