Itinerary

When you arrive at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, our staff will meet you and bring you to your hotel, where our guide will give you a briefing on the hotel, about Kathmandu, and the trekking / lodges along the way, as well as other important information.

Transfer to the domestic airport in Kathmandu early in the morning, then board a smaller aircraft (twin otter or Dornier) for a picturesque trip to Lukla. Our first-day hike begins with a gradual drop and then a few ups with a view of Kusum-Kanguru 6,369m.

As the hike continues, a brief suspension bridge and a short ascent will lead you to Phakding hamlet, where you will spend the night near the Dudh-Kosi River.

Morning walk with a short uphill and downhill and re-crossing the same river with a magnificent view of Thamserku 6,608m on the bridge over Dudh-Kosi.

After a few hours of walking, you will arrive at Monjo village and then trek to the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park (Sagarmatha means "Great Mother" in Nepali, whereas Chomolungma means "Great Mother" in Tibetan). From the Park gate, a short descent leads to Jorsalle village, the last village before Namche Bazaar. The walk follows the riverbank through green forested sections with pines, oaks, and rhododendron trees.

When you reach the last high bridge, you will be on a wide winding uphill trail to Namche Bazaar, with a spectacular view of Kwangde, Kusum Kanguru, Mt. Everest-Nuptse, and Lhotse peaks on one side and Mt. Everest-Nuptse and Lhotse peaks on the other while walking uphills.

Namche Bazaar, a significant village/town in the Khumbu region with good hotels and lodges, is located in a U-shaped bowl and hosts a colorful and lively Saturday Market every week.

Namche is an ideal place for acclimatization and a short hike; suggested activities include a walk to Sagarmatha National Park Headquarters, a magnificent spot perched on top of Namche Bazaar with a breathtaking view of surrounding high peaks including Mt. Everest and Ama-Dablam, and a visit to its interesting museum for a wealth of information on the Himalayas' history, geography, culture, mountaineering, as well as information on the region's flora and fauna.

Morning walks on a somewhat moderate track with a few short ups and downs, with spectacular views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Kwangde-Ri peaks.

Phungitenga 3,250m, a small town with a couple of teahouses amid an alpine forest with silver fir, blue pines, rhododendron, and a few magnolias and birch trees, is reached after a pleasant stroll of a few hours.

Afternoon hike leads to a roughly two-hour ascent through the shade of large trees to Thyangboche Monastery (Ghompa), where you will spend the night. Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, and Lhotse Shar can all be seen from here, as well as Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, and Lhotse Shar to the northeast.

After a fantastic stay at Thyangboche, our journey descends through a forest of birch, fir, juniper, and rhododendron to Deoboche, 3,650 meters, with a spectacular view of Mount Ama Dablam, Mt. Everest, Nuptse, and Lhotse.

From Deboche, proceed beyond the prayer mani wall to a metal bridge that spans the Imja-Tse River's small canyon. From the bridge, walk uphill for the majority of the trip to Pangboche hamlet, which is at 3,900 meters (the last permanent village on route base camp).

After Pangboche, a short ascent leads to Shomare, a little village with a great view of Ama-Dablam, for lunch. After a delightful stop, continue east, passing a small wooden bridge after an hour's walk, and then proceeding to the picturesque Imjatse valley for an overnight halt at Dingboche village.

Dingboche is situated in the magnificent Imja-Tse valley under Ama Dablam, Nuptse, and Lhotse, with views of the Island Peak or Imja Tse Himal, which stands at 6,189 meters and is one of Nepal's most famous trekking peaks. Dingboche has a lovely farm field with stone walls enclosing it, sheltering crops of barley, buckwheat, and potatoes from the cold wind and grazing animals, as well as a number of good lodges to stay in.

Another rest day at Dingboche, with a few great locations for short climbs up the hill for the best glamorous views of the valley and mountains, including Mt. Makalu to the east.

An easy short day hike to Chukung, a small town within Imjatse valley at 4,760 meters, offers spectacular views of Island Peak, Lhotse Shar, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Amadablam in the morning.

The afternoon can be spent relaxing with an optional climb up to Chhukung-Ri, which is located at a height of around 5,100 meters.

After a relaxing stop in Chhukung, the adventure begins early in the next morning with a climb over the first of the journey's passes. Between Dingboche and Chhukung, go past the Bible, and then take a 'off the beaten path' north beneath the towering peaks of Lhotse and Nuptse.

Following a steep climb over moraine on top of Kongma-La, in between Kongma peak (also known as Mehra) and Pokalde peaks, after a rest and a short stop on top of the 5,535 m / 18,159 ft high pass, descend to reach Khumbu glacier and moraine as the walk continues on glacier following our guide safely to Lobuche for an overnight stop in the comfort of a nice and cozy lodge.

Today, adventure leads at the foot of Mt. Everest, first-hour walk on a gradual path with slow up and then short 20 minutes climb to reach a moraine above Khumbu glacier. Walk from here follows a rocky moraine path to Gorakshep, located on a flat sandy field below Kala Patthar 5,545m and Mt. Pumori 7,145m.

With few lodges and teahouses, this place was an earlier base camp of Everest till the end of the 1980s. After a break here continues trek to Everest Base Camp, the walk is quite strenuous due to high altitude and thin air, where the trail leads over rocky dunes and moraine and streams, till Everest base camp is reached after 3 hrs of walk from Gorakshep.

During peak expedition season, Everest Base Camp is bustling with visitors who come to see the gigantic Khumbu icefalls and glaciers, as well as the Nuptse-Lola peaks.

Retrace your steps back to Gorak Shep for an overnight break after a fantastic time at base camp.

Early morning climb on top of Kalapathar, a rocky hill at an altitude above 5,545 m, the highest spot of the adventure with a fantastic panorama of mountains facing Mt. Everest at close distance.

After a great moment with excellent views descend back to Gorak Shep for breakfast and continue to walk to Lobuche, from here downhill to Dzongla a scenic small settlement at the base of Tsho-la (Cho-la) pass.

Morning walk at the end of Gokyo Lake with fantastic views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Cholatse, and Taboche peaks, and then a steep climb to Renjo La pass 5,465 m / 17,929 ft high, one of the most difficult sections of this adventure, with a fantastic panorama of Mt. Cho-Oyu and other high surrounding peaks.

After a delightful rest, the trek continues downwards to a frozen pond beneath Renjo La pass, and then downhill to Lungdhen, which is near the Nangpa-la pass, which leads to the Tibet border.

After successfully crossing and traversing all three high passes of Everest around the Khumbu area, the morning trek descends to Marlung hamlet/village, followed by a lovely walk to Thame village, where you will spend the night.

Few trekkers visit Thame, which is located at the western end of the Khumbu and Everest region, save when using the Renjo-la route or passing Tashi-Labtsa, a high pass that separates Rolwaling valley and the Khumbu region. Visit Thame monastery in the afternoon, one of the most important and oldest Gompas in the area, estimated to be over 500 years old.

Morning stroll goes to a short descent to the Bhote Kosi River, followed by a sloping trail to Thamo, then back into the tree lines of pines, firs, and rhododendron woodland to Namche Bazaar for an overnight stay in the comfort of the lovely lodge, with the afternoon free at leisure.

Our final day of the journey begins with a long drop on the same way to the Sagarmatha National Park entrance, where we will reach Monjo village, where we will continue on a pleasant gradual track crossing bridges to Phakding.

From Phakding, travel to Lukla over a series of ups and downs, culminating in a one-hour climb to Lukla, the final overnight stop in the Khumbu and Everest region.
